Relic by Lincoln Child and Douglas Preston
Blurb:

Just days before a massive exhibition opens at the popular New York Museum of Natural History, Visitors are being savagely murdered in the museum's dark hallways and secret rooms. Autopsies indicate that the killer cannot be human....
But the museum's directors plan to go ahead with a big bash to celebrate the new exhibition, in spite of the murders.
Museum researcher Margo Green must find out who - or what - is doing the killing. But can she do it in time to stop the massacre?

The Book version of the Relic has to be one of the best genre books published during the nineties, it is unsurpased even by the great's such as Benchley's Jaws in the sheer amout of terror and excitment, All the characters are completely beleavable and realisticallly portrayed so no matter what they do during the course of the film you always feel empathy when they finally demise.

Below is a list of characters who have either been deleated or suppressed in the film version.

Special Agent Pendergast: An FBI agent who is actually the main character in the novel but was not used in the film, He is great at what he does and always gets done what he wants, he does not get in the way of D'Agosta but rather lets him do the job he want's to do. In the film his roles were given to both D'Agosta and Margo

Bill Smithback: Another major character in the book who has dissapiered during the conversion to film, He is a reporter hired by the Museum Heads to wright a book on the upcoming exerbition, his role in the film were given top Hollingsworth.

Greg Kawakita: Not the enemy of the book as he is portrayed in the film as Greg Lee but is in fact the creator of the DNA examination machine that in the film Margo create's. He has infact many scenes in the book where he is freindly with Margo and she would rather be with him than Smithback.

Lavina Rickman: The Anne Cuthbert character in the novel, she is one of the directors of the museum and is Smithback's nemises when it comes to what he can wright in his book, Her character was totally deleated for the film only the fact that there is a female director carrys over.

George Moritarty: Another character in the book who was totally deleated for the film, he is the curator of the new exhibition and gets involved with Margo.

Doctor Ian Cuthbert: Another Director of the museum who in the conversion to film changed into Linda Hunt though his characterisation is kept the same.

Doctor Wright: Another Director Deleated

Special Agent Coffee: Another FBI angent deleated from the movie his chracterisation in the film is seen but he is not a Agent any more only the security man at the museum
